Breast Actives Program

Breast cancer is really a very hot problem today. Even if you personal life has not been touched by cancer, for sure you know people who suffer or suffered from cancer. br /

Breast cancer is the second disease after skin cancer that a lot of women suffer from, it depends upon from where you have got to know the figures. Breast cancer happens very often especially when women have not been diagnosed for a long time. br /

I have got to know that women and girls, who decided to go to a radical procedure which is called double mastectomy, it is removal of both breasts in order they will not be subjected to the risk of having cancer after they have been tested positive for the gene fault. br /
br /
When going to mastectomy procedure you will be having your breasts, nipples and everything totally removed. It sounds horrible, doesn’t it? Of course, this procedure frighten all the women, especially when it comes to genetic screening. br /
br /
Genetic screening can show a woman exactly by investigating her genetics and DNA, whether she will have breast cancer ever in her life, or at least it can tell you the percentage odds. And when the percentage odds are close to 100% women more often decide to go to the radical breast removal procedure. br /

When genetic testing is definitely blessing and way to the newest and the highest tech and effective treatments for breast and other cancers, would like to know if it does not cause more unnecessary procedures as well, but who knows. br /

I am definitely not a researcher, and I can not tell you for sure what may be my reaction, and whether I would decide to remove my breasts if I tested positive for the gene defect but I know that it would make me very disappointed with the understanding that I would have got this awful disease. The same feelings have other women of course. br /
br /
I can understand them and I can tell that I respect their reaction, especially when I know that they have seen their family members of friends struggling from this disease. But I would never understand their fear as there is never 100% exact. Recently I have read one story about one British woman. That story impressed me really very much. She was 19 and she has undergone the procedure of mastectomy because she feared she will suffer from breast cancer. Of course, she had serious reasons for that, as two of her family members suffered from cancer. br /
br /
She tested also positive for the gene defect and that increased incredibly the probability that her breast tissue can become cancerous, so she had very high chances to suffer from cancer at some stage of her life. br /
br /
But it is rather challenging when you are nineteen and you should meet friends, have fun, having only concern of finding your niche in life, to recover from a radical procedure and then go again to invasive surgery to rebuild breast in an artificial way. br /

Perhaps mastectomies will save many lives in the future, but this are is not completely investigated to tell for sure, as this tendency just started to develop after genetic testing spread and became very popular. I assume, that in the future we will have chance to see if it really can save lives. In any case this is very complicated decision that a woman should take.br /
