Apple sells over 300,000 iPad tablets on US launch day

We heard some pretty ridiculous estimates over the weekend, but these figures are straight out of Cupertino's mouth: over 300,000 iPads were sold on April 3rd. Specifically, that many were moved in the US as of midnight (PT, we're assuming) on Saturday, though this does include deliveries of pre-ordered units to customers, deliveries to channel partners (such as Best Buy) and sales at Apple Retail Stores. We should point out, though, that just because Best Buy purchased a bundle of 'em doesn't mean that end users have (yet), but still, this is a pretty impressive feat for something that not everyone was convinced that they "needed" in January. If you'll recall, Apple only sold 270,000 iPhones during its first 30 hours on the market, yet it moved over a million iPhone 3GS units during that handset's opening weekend. In related news, iPad users also downloaded over a million apps and over 250,000 ebooks from the iBookstore during launch day, with Steve Jobs himself noting that "iPad users, on average, downloaded more than three apps and close to one book within hours of unpacking their new iPad." Now, let's see if these guys can keep pace through the first full week.

[Thanks, Tal]

Leaked image says iPad lands at Best Buy… on launch day

We'd heard buzzing for some time now around the internet that Apple planned to sell its iPad in more than just its own stores, and usually the name Best Buy was mentioned in the same breath... but now we've got some photographic evidence. The above shot comes from what looks to be an internal memo from the big box retailer, not only stating that the stores will be getting the iPad, but that they'll be getting the iPad on launch day. Now, there's no way for us to confirm that is 100 percent the real deal, but we speculated this could be coming back in mid-February, and there's lots of corroborating evidence to suggest this is no joke (such as COO Tim Cook explicitly mentioning the device would be sold at Best Buy) -- we just didn't expect to see it day one. We're digging for more info on this story, so stay tuned.

Update:
Best Buy's iPad playbook is certainly looking legit at this point. Our tipster sent us another two screenshots (they're after the break) showing off BB's new retail display which includes the iPad. Interestingly, they also tell us that the iPads are set to be delivered to stores on the night of April 2nd, and that quantities will be limited to about five of each model on launch. TUAW has also just published more of the playbook if you want to head over there and check it out.

Motorola’s Android-powered i1 launching at CTIA

With CTIA still a day away, we're stoked to have already seen a giant billboard near the convention center confirming the rumored Motorola i1. Of course, billboards rarely offer much insight into the device's specifics, but there is a pretty decent view of the UI and its slogan: "Grab Life by the Calls." As you'd expect, we'll be all over this set just as soon as we can get at one, but in the interim follow on for one more pic after the break that features the i1's poster boy, Mike Rowe of Discovery's Dirty Jobs.

Toshiba K01 hands-on

Toshiba's K01 is exactly what we would've liked to have seen as a complementary set to the TG01. Happily, Toshiba's given us a QWERTY option with the new model, added capacitive touch, and swapped out the earlier display for a swanky new AMOLED version. Key feel is a bit rough on the outside keys -- shift, delete, enter -- but this device still isn't final, and with all that real estate, the layout feels just great. In fact, the devices being shown on the floor are just looping a demo video and not really showing off the UI as seen above; we couldn't get any film of it, so the pics we got will have to suffice. We like what they've done here -- in fact, this could make an excellent day to day set if battery life proves good enough. We also can't help but notice the three buttons (soft touch) across the bottom that could quite easily be skinned for Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 Series, could they not? A bunch of pics are just below.

Haircut, Hairstyle And Hair Color

It is important to treat you hair in a proper way. And to choose the right hair routine it is essential to define your hair type first. The texture of your hair is an important factor that should affect the way you wash your hair and the type of styling products you use. It also matters when choosing the best haircut for you. br /
Fine hair usually looks great with long layers in the front and shoulder length in the back. Color usually allows to add some volume to this hair type. But if you do not like coloring or are happy with your natural color, try adding some highlights to the top layers of your hair. Your hair needs to be washed at least one time a day. You might want to wash it even twice a day during hot months. No oils should be left on your hair to make it flat and to weight it down. So, deep cleaning shampoo could be the right choice. If you have dry hair, try to use a gloss that will add moisture to the ends of your hair. Hair volumizers could also be used to get the desired volume and body. You could also pin your wet hair a couple of inches from the hair line to have extra volume when it is dried. br /
Wavy hair needs to be layered as well. Whatever hair length you prefer, you should get layers to prevent it from getting too big. Such hair should be washed no more than once a day. And you could use silicone based hair styling products instead of alcohol based ones. Alcohol based gels and mousses dry the hair out. It is recommended that you pin or braid your hair up during the day and let it loose in the evening. br /
If your hair is curly, you definitely need a long hair style. You could also ask your hair stylist for a blunt cut to prevent your hair from getting very big. Curly hair should be washed every two to three days. It is advisable to use heavy conditioner and not to rinse it out completely. Your curly hair might need extra moisture as well. So do not buy alcohol based styling products and give your preferences to silicone or water based ones. br /
Now, when you are ready to treat your hair in a proper way, it is the right time to find out what 2009 hair styles are in the trend. Both short hair and fashionable hairdos are popular this year. Perms, curls, sedu hair styles, bob cuts, the shag and many more are on top. Women could wear any style they choose to achieve the best look ever.br /
